At Vanguard AG, creating a more sustainable healthcare system is at the heart of what we do. We regularly share updates on why sustainability is essential for a liveable future. Our core business – medical remanufacturing – aims to reduce the ecological footprint of hospitals and create financial flexibility for future-oriented investments.

But what about our own operations?

Our Sustainability Manager, Joshua Okojie, has summarised the progress Vanguard AG has made since July 2023 with regard to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Environmental and Climate Protection

  • Environmental stewardship – In partnership with CleanHub, 4,000 kilograms of waste were collected – a deliberate initiative supporting ocean conservation efforts and protecting life below water, that goes beyond regulatory requirements.
  • Towards Net-Zero: Energy Efficiency in Focus – Since early 2025, Vanguard has been sourcing 100% green electricity and has optimised the energy efficiency of its buildings. A comprehensive energy audit was conducted to identify potential for greater efficiency, reduce costs and minimise environmental impact.

Social Responsibility – Chosen by Employees, Powered by Vanguard

Through financial donations, we supported several initiatives chosen by our employees: Die Tafel (food bank), Wünschewagen (a wish-granting project for terminally ill people), the Bethlehem Children’s Hospital, and the Children’s Cancer Aid.

We also donated 87,440 pairs of disposable gloves to support Paritätisches Seniorenwohnen (a senior citizens’ housing organisation) and Hunderettung Europa – driving animal welfare initiatives (a dog rescue charity).

Partnerships & Governance

As a long-standing sponsor of the “Klimaretter – Lebensretter” initiative, we help build a bridge between healthcare and climate protection. We believe it is crucial to promote environmentally conscious practices across the entire sector – far beyond remanufacturing.

To ensure ethical standards throughout our production value chain, we have implemented a comprehensive compliance framework. Transparency is viewed as a natural part of corporate responsibility.

Through these measures, we are making progress towards a greener, fairer and more sustainable world – though we recognise there is still a long way to go. That’s why we continue to work on improvements and hope this update serves as inspiration.

Because only together can we achieve the goal.
