Sell used medical devices – reduce your budget and protect the environment.
The healthcare sector generates huge amounts of waste every year, particularly from the disposal of single-use medical devices. Many of these are technically complex and costly to produce, but end up directly in the rubbish after a short period of use. This need not be the case: there are more sustainable solutions – both ecologically and economically.
A short intervention with a big effect:
In Germany, up to 1.2 million cardiac catheterisations are performed every year. This is one of the most frequent inpatient procedures of all. Specialised disposable products from the field of electrophysiology are used for these procedures: 3D mapping systems, ablation and diagnostic catheters – highly developed medical technology that should be obsolete after a single use.
Vanguard is giving these products a second chance – with a purchase programme. Regardless of whether a co-operation already exists.

Why remanufacturing is more than just recycling
In recycling, materials such as plastics or metals are separated, shredded and only partially reused for other purposes. Remanufacturing, on the other hand, preserves the value of the entire medical device – technically, functionally and economically. Instead of recycling raw materials directly, a medical device is completely refurbished and made fit for use again as part of remanufacturing.
This means that used medical devices remain medical devices – with the same safety, the same function and a significantly smaller ecological footprint compared to new production.
The sale to Vanguard lays the foundation for this process. Products with high technological requirements, such as ablation catheters or catheters for 3D mapping systems, are given further life cycles. A clear difference to recycling – and a real contribution to a high-quality circular economy in the healthcare sector.
Sustainability in practice
Every medical device that is returned is a contribution to conserving resources and reducing waste in the healthcare sector. As part of medical remanufacturing, we examine whether and how products can be given a new life cycle – naturally in accordance with applicable regulations such as Article 17 of the MDR.
As an established company with over 25 years of experience in the field of sustainable reprocessing, Vanguard actively contributes to the implementation of a functioning circular economy in the medical sector.
